I've had my temps for a while now...but I haven't really done much driving.(read that; been on the road 3-4 times ever, about a year and a half ago) I had lots of logical reasons that basicly broke down to: whenever I had the time, I wasn't really thinking about it, and forgot. So Friday, with college looming up ahead, I decided enough was enough. If Grandpa was willing, I would go out driving with him the next day. Turns out I was just in time.

Saturday evening I drove across town to get a pumpkin. I had one hour before trick or treaters were to start that night.(Terre Haute has trick or treating for two nights) That was fun, but not very life threatening.

Sunday night at about 11, Grandpa asks if I'll drive him to church. He's the janitor and a coffee pot had been left on all day. He has bad vision, and can't drive at night. I rose to the challenge, glad that I could help out. Again, this was not that exciting a job, or very important in the Grand Scheme of things. A melted pot would have probably been the worst that could have happened.

Today, while Grandpa picked me up from work (Even if I had a licence, there's still only one car), Granny tripped on an 'air brick' and fell down. Grandpa and I didn't find out until we came home that her elbow was bothering her. Well, bothering became pain and pain became excruciating, so they called me downstairs to ask if I would drive them (at 9:30ish pm in the rain) to the emergency room. Thank God I got us there and back without mishap. It turns out that Granny broke her left elbow, which didn't really suprise me. She couldn't drive, obviously, and as much as he proclaimes to the opposite, neither can Grandpa...so I was REALLY glad that I stuck to my guns and got learning.

note to self: Horseback riding helps with learning to drive. I already knew how to slow down on curves, slowly break, and judge distances. All I have to do now is start applying those to a new situatation, and become more aware of my surroundings. however, for some strange reason, posting is not effective.

Yeah... that's kind of what I thought. I don't know what we would have done if this happened last week. we might have had to call an ambulance, which would have sucked.

Guilt had been knawing on me for a while now; that it was the Grands that were driving *me* around everywhere, as opposed to the other way around. I think I managed to finally beat him off me this time.

I think my main problem is that I can never tell if I'm on the right diagonal when I press the gas.
