Yesterday was October Birthday day at the Center. This is when all of the children in the building that have birthdays in october get parties and presents.

Why is this a horrifying thing, you ask? because it means having 14 children stuck in our classroom for the entire time we're there, instead of going onto the playground and running off some energy.

So: you have already manic kids hyped up on candy they ate at school, stuck in a closed space, and us attempting to get them to sit and do a craft. (We *did* get most of the crafts done, I must admit...though even sitting they are loud) Then add about 10 elderly ladies, ice cream, soda, helium balloons, and a clown. yes... I kid you not.... the birthday ladies brought a clown.

So after giving my kids *more* sugar, one of the women smiles at me and asks "Do you think we could move the tables and have a relay race?"

O.O "Uh.....no. Not with these kids.... it would get *way* out of hand."

She protests "But they would only be walking" ......I'm proud I didn't laugh in her face. Trying to get 'Corin' to walk is like telling the tides to change. You can talk all you like, but unless you are literally saying "walkwalkwalkwalkwalkwalkwalk" he 'forgets'. We played duck duck goose instead. we had them walk that too, but since it was a more confined space, we thought that maybe we could keep the damage down. All I can say about *that* venture was.... Did you know that Duck Duck Goose was a full contact sport? not unlike Rugby? I sure didn't, but I have learnt the error of my ways.

::grin:: that's one of the main reasons I picked this mood icon. But really.... I mean.... a clown? carrying caffinated soda? that's enough to give any day care worker nightmares.

LOL! You know how dad works at GE? They have these company picnicks every year and they used to have this clown...
My dad drove him away. He used to steal food from the kids plates and every time my dad saw him doing that he'd cup his hands around his mouth and shout "Do not feed the clown!!!" XD
Clowns are afraid of my dad.
I inherited that trait. XP
