Of splinters and sign language
Oct. 3rd, 2004 10:09 pmWell.... it's official: We have a bathroom again! It just doesn't work. Tonight, a leak was sprung in the basement. we had to turn off all the water in the house. (I just had to notice the leak *before* needing to pee. this sucks.)Any how, back to Saturday.
After finishing the bathroom; my uncle Jeff called me down and asked if I would be willing to help out with "A little out-door project" right as the sun was starting to set. I say I'm game.... and go out to discover him *ripping* the ramp off the back porch. Turns out he wants to build and install a new one. ok..... So there I am, carrying rotted lumber in my bare hands(and pulling out spinters later that night), and doing construction work in my flip-flops. (I don't care if it's cold out, I refuse to surrender them to my closet yet)
We get it done in about two hours from start to finish. (gotta be a record for that somewhere) Jeff and Sheri, my aunt, then proceed to take me out to Outback Stakehouse as thanks for all my hard work. WTF?! This is the man who has never said four civil words to me in my life, and all of a sudden he's treating me to dinner, thanking me repeatedly for my help, and talking to me as if I were an equal. Pardon me if I started hearing the Twilight Zone song.
We ate, chatted, and ended up shareing a dessert. Once again I have decided that he is the most Egotistical, narrow-minded, chuvinistic(sp), generous person I have ever met. It makes no sense to me, but his heart is as big as his Ego.
Then, today I went over to a nearby church with kids from my Center, and sat with them as their chorus sang five songs. I signed 4 of them, while standing next to them. One of my girls(I call her Miss Hollywood, queen of Melodrama) moved over so she could sit on my lap for about half the time. I think she really was feeling bad, or at least over-tired, so I didn't complain. Besides, it kept her quiet.
I also bought Wolf's Rain vol 1. ::writhes:: NEED MORE! I haven't seen more than 10 episodes (the first 5 on the DVD and the few I saw on Adult swim) but it is ADDICTING! it's got the same gut wrenching characterizations in it that has you craving more that .hack//sign has. It's serious, confusing, painful, and oh so wonderful for all that!

There's a reason that construction workers wear steel-toed work boots. ~_~
